With divine touch and abundant faith, the festival Vasant Panchami will be celebrated on January 28 this year. Vasant Panchami festival welcomes the arrival of Panchami (fifth day) of Vasant Ritu (spring season).
For religious Indians this festival is inclined towards beautiful Maa Saraswati. Yellow color is used to make a serene and incredible yellowish sight. Great devotees of Vasant Panchami wear clothes of yellow color. Children fly yellow kites very excitedly. Farms of Mustard plants add sugar in revealing beauty to the environment on the day of Vasant Panchami. Vasant Panchami 2012 : Cultural Rituals with Equivalent Fervor
Vasant Panchami is also known as Shree Panchami, Saraswati Poojan, and Saraswati Pooja etc. Every year, Vasant Panchami festival is celebrated on the fifth day of Shukla paksh (bright fortnight period) of the lunar month of Magh. It means this festival falls at the end of January or beginning of February month every year. This year this festival is on January 28, 2012.
In all parts of India, Vasant Panchami is celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm and fervor. In North India, Vasant Panchami is also pronounced as Basant Panchami, and this day is very auspicious especially for Children and students. In schools, students are taught to chant mantras and shloks (stanzas) of Maa Saraswati with giving so much regard and inclination towards this goddess.

On this auspicious occasion, all family members after taking bath stand together and worship goddess Saraswati at home. Many believers also like to visit temples with the idol of Maa Saraswati on the day Vasant Panchami. |
